The wait is almost over. The Olympic flame will be lighted tomorrow. Over 14,000 athletes from 205 nations will compete for the highest honour in sports at the 2012 London Olympic Games. We are excited to see which Olympians are going to bag gold. But first, let’s talk about style.
Dubbed as the “most fashionable Olympics ever” by Italian designer Giorgio Armani, lucky Olympians will be fashioned in uniforms designed by top fashion designers such as Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Salvatorre Ferragamo and etc. Does style remain after the athletes stripped off their sports gear?
Oh yes, we’ve scouted our favourite Olympians who scored gold in the style category:
Victoria Pendleton (UK, Cycling)

Victoria Pendleton is Team Great Britain’s London 2012 poster girl. The reigning cycling champion in the Women’s Individual Sprint Event is not only known for her record sprints but also her striking good looks. To date, this cycling champ has modelled in Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire as well as in a TV commercial for Pantene Pro V. She also has her own television show, Victoria Pendleton: Cycling's Golden Girl (BBC1) under her belt. Will she continue her Olympic success despite the fame and attention? We’ll soon find out.
Park Tae-Hwan (South Korea, Swimming)

Do not be fooled by his chocolate abs. Park Tae-Hwan is a two-time Olympic medalist and was 400m freestyle champion at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. South Korea’s “Marine Boy” has also his boyish good looks (and chocolate abs) to thank. His celebrity status in his home country has earned him multiple endorsement deals as well as fashion editorials. We love his sharp sense of style outside the competition pool and of course, we love him even more in his Speedos.
Hope Solo (USA, Women’s Soccer)

The “Golden Glove” award winner of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup may have been eliminated from the 13th season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ but she is ready to save for an Olympic gold medal. The beautiful Hope Solo was featured on the cover of Vogue US (June 2012) alongside with swimmer Ryan Lochte and tennis player Serena Williams. The all-American girl loves form-fitting dresses and letting her hair down on her day offs. If you’ve got the body, flaunt it.
Tom Daley (UK, Diver)

Did you know that 18-year old Tom Daley once convinced supermodel Kate Moss to help him with his homework? It’s true! This London 2012 medal hopeful is facing tough competition from Qiu Bo of China in the individual 10m platform competition. Despite his young age, Tom has modeled for Vogue Italia with Kate Moss as well as fronted the cover of Fabulous magazine. No wonder this stylish young chap boasts 264,233 Twitter followers and a legion of female fans.
Lolo Jones (USA, Track & Field)

Lolo Jones is back for a golden leap. Her infamous hurdle trip at the 2008 Beijing Olympics cost her the prestigious Olympic gold medal. It is the moment for Lolo to make up for lost time. She has graced many magazine covers including Fitness, Runners as well as the July 30th issue of TIME magazine for the Summer Olympic Games. We love how she bares her sexy back on the red carpet with low-back dresses and stilettos.
LeBron James (USA, Basketball)

LeBron James is a household name for sports fashion icons. Let’s put it this way: This man knows style. We recognised him for his sleek, tailored suits, Vogue US cover (April 2008) with Gisele Bundchen, front row appearances at New York Fashion Week and his impressive Audemars Piguet collection. Today, he is a proud owner of Unknwn, a fashion store in Miami. Expect nothing less than gold for Team USA in the Basketball competition at the 2012 London Olympics.
